Due to our superior standards, we are the most successful Academy in the area. All Ohdokwan instructors go through a very extensive selection process with the UK Black Belt Schools to ensure we have only the best and most talented instructors in the country. Once selected, they are put through an intense 300 hour Accredited Instructor Development program (A.I.D.) to ensure that the quality of tuition provided to our students is second to none. Only the top trainees qualify, and not all make it... this ensures that you only taught by the best! You are encouraged to try your best, to be your best – and to inspire others to follow your good example. This is leadership...
Once a UK Black Belt Schools instructor is qualified to teach our unique and effective system, they are then required to continue their martial arts and instructor education. This on-going training allows our instructors to stay up to date on the latest and most effective teaching methods and exercise science. This re-certification process is our assurance that every UK Black Belt Schools student will continue to receive only the very best in martial arts training. Not only is the ability of their professional instruction re-assessed, they are also re-assessed every 6 months for their Martial arts ability!
All academy instructors are CRB checked, and are fully qualified in their field. UK Black Belt Schools instructors are professionals; we are experts in what we do, and Martial Arts is our chosen profession. We expect our instructors to be the best, so you can expect the best from our instructors.
Master Bonthuys founded Ohdokwan over a decade ago, and with his team of instructors continues to work very closely with the TVBC and Kidsafe.
All Academy Instructors are CRB checked, and collectively have over 110 years of experience.
Master Instructor: Master Bonthuys
Master Bonthuys has a post graduate honours degree with the Open University, and is married with three sons.
As a Director of a local company, Master Bonthuys decided to leave in order to become a full-time martial arts professional and to fulfil an ambition.
As a Martial Arts expert training in traditional Martial Arts for over 25 years, he has been a national British gold medallist and has been extensively personally tutored by Masters in the Far East. He has featured in several national martial arts magazines, local papers, and has been a guest for the radio. He is the SE Regional Coordinator, Health & Safety officer and sits on the board of the Black Belt grading panel for a major association, and is also a member of the Black Belt Masters Council for the United Kingdom Black Belt Schools.
A qualified personal development expert; he is considered by his seniors to be one of the best instructors in the country - whilst placing an emphasis on helping his students and their families learn together within the local community to the highest possible standard. In 1994 he was presented with the prestigious “Instructor of the year” award by Global Tae Kwon Do International.
It is now the goal of Master Bonthuys and his staff to make this the most successful private Academy in this area, creating Leaders in our community.

Chief Instructor: Mr Lucy
Mr Lucy is a definitive family man with two young sons.
Running a successful local business for many years, Mr Lucy decided to depart in order to become a full time martial arts professional and to fulfil an ambition.
Mr Lucy has been training in traditional Martial Arts for over 15 years. He began his Leadership training, and achieved his Black Belt after four and a half years.
Three years ago he completed his Instructors certification program (A.I.D) and is considered by his seniors to be one of the best instructors in the country - whilst placing an emphasis on helping his students and their families learn together within the local community to the highest possible standard.
Mr Lucy believes that personal development and growth are based upon choices.
A qualified personal development expert, Mr Lucy is now training hard for his fourth degree Black Belt, and continues to work very closely with the TVBC, Kidsafe and local Schools.
It is now the goal of Mr Lucy and his staff to make this the most successful private College in this area, creating Leaders in this community.
