What is Tae Kwon-Do?

It is a version of an ancient form of unarmed combat practised for many centuries in the Orient. Tae Kwon-Do became perfected to its present form in Korea.

Bandae Jirugi : Reverse Punch

Literally translated: Tae Kwon-Do means "The Way of the Foot & Hand"

Each new student joins the school as a White Belt (symbolising that they have no prior knowledge of martial arts). They may test for the first grade or level once the instructor has deemed that they have mastered the necessary skills that the grade or level demands.

Many students take the decision to become a Black Belt or even a Black Belt Leader and move from the Positive Start programme to one of the Black Belt programmes within the first month of training (without taking any of the Positive Start Grades, and also taking financial advantage of the better-than-money-back guarantee). However some students may feel they would benefit from staying in the positive start group for a slightly longer period.

To continue learning after the Positive Start programme, students can upgrade to one of the Black Belt programmes, and may then begin to study for the first grade recognised by Tae Kwon-Do schools throughout the world - the 9th Kup (or 9th Grade).
